From you have I been absent in the spring,
When proud-pied April dress’d in all his trim
Hath put a spirit of youth in every thing,
That heavy Saturn laugh’d and leap’d with him.
Yet nor the lays of birds nor the sweet smell
Of different flowers in odour and in hue
Could make me any summer’s story tell,
Or from their proud lap pluck them where they grew;
Nor did I wonder at the lily’s white,
Nor praise the deep vermilion in the rose;
They were but sweet, but figures of delight,
Drawn after you, you pattern of all those.
Yet seem’d it winter still, and, you away,
As with your shadow I with these did play.
-William Shakespeare, SONNET 98-
I was incredibly inspired by this poem by Shakespeare, and I decided to collaborate on a special project with my friend, April. Born in April when all the trees were in full bloom, her name holds a special significance that adds a beautiful layer of meaning to our work together.
For this dreamy session, we chose the stunning backdrop of Stanley Park in Vancouver. I highly recommend exploring the Stanley Park Pavilion venue if you’re considering an intimate wedding surrounded by nature. Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, it offers both accessibility and natural beauty.
I captured all these moments on medium format film, using Fuji 400H. I find that this film perfectly enhances the pinkish tones, making our cherry blossoms look even more exquisite. I’m eagerly looking forward to creating more portrait and engagement sessions in this amazing location.
