A couple seated closely together on the bow of a classic wooden Riva speedboat gliding across the shimmering waters of Lake Como, the woman leaning back into the man's arms as they look up contentedly. A grand Italian villa nestled among cypress trees and lush hillside greenery rises dramatically behind them, with the misty Alpine mountains stretching across the horizon in soft morning light.

An Intimate Lake Como Elopement in Tremezzo, Italy

Some places feel like they were made for love stories. Lake Como is one of those places.
Hadley and Brett traveled all the way from the United States to celebrate their Lake Como elopement in Tremezzo, one of the most romantic destinations in the world. Surrounded by breathtaking lake views, historic villas, and the timeless beauty of Italy, they created a day that felt deeply personal and unforgettable.
Their elopement was a beautiful reminder that the most meaningful celebrations do not have to be grand. Sometimes, the most special moments happen when it is just the two of you.

A Meaningful Morning at Villa Marie

The day began with one of my favorite parts of an elopement — getting ready together.

Hadley and Brett shared a slow and intimate morning at Villa Marie. For me, this is one of the most beautiful things about elopements. Without the rush of a traditional wedding timeline, couples have the space to truly be present with each other.

The quiet moments, small gestures, and genuine emotions created some of the most meaningful photographs of the day.

I captured many of these moments in black and white using Kodak TX400 film with my beloved Konica Hexar. The combination created a timeless feeling that perfectly matched the atmosphere of Lake Como.

Private Vows Overlooking Lake Como

After the morning preparations, we continued to the rooftop of Villa Marie for their private vows.

With the lake stretching out behind them, Hadley and Brett exchanged their promises in one of the most beautiful settings imaginable. The soft Italian light, the surrounding mountains, and the intimacy of the moment made it feel truly unforgettable.

We spent more time creating portraits on the rooftop, taking advantage of the incredible views and the elegant character of the villa.

Perfect Weather for a Lake Como Elopement

The weather made this day even more special.

The day before their elopement, Lake Como was covered in heavy rain. We were incredibly lucky to wake up to the most beautiful sunshine on their wedding day. The clear skies and soft light created the perfect conditions for photography.

It felt like everything aligned perfectly for Hadley and Brett’s celebration.

A Dreamy Boat Ride on Lake Como

The highlight of the afternoon was the boat ride across Lake Como.

There is something magical about exploring the lake by boat. We captured so many beautiful moments surrounded by the water, mountains, and historic villas along the shoreline.

We also created aerial portraits with drone photography, adding another perspective to their story. As the sun began to set, we photographed the golden hour light on Kodak Gold film, which was the perfect choice for capturing the dreamy warmth of the evening.

The combination of film, digital photography, and drone imagery allowed us to preserve the feeling of the day in a way that felt authentic and timeless.

An Elopement to Remember

Hadley and Brett’s elopement in Tremezzo, Lake Como was everything an intimate celebration should be — meaningful, romantic, and completely personal.

From their quiet morning together at Villa Marie to their private vows, golden hour boat ride, and unforgettable views, every moment reflected their love and the beauty of this incredible place.

I could not have asked for a more beautiful setting or a more wonderful couple to photograph. Lake Como truly delivered a day that will always be remembered.

Insider Tips from a Lake Como Elopement Photographer

A Lake Como elopement is a dream experience. Here are a few things I recommend:

  • Consider the weather. Lake Como weather can change quickly, so having a flexible timeline helps you make the most of the beautiful light and scenery.
  • Plan your boat ride carefully. Having two boats allows for more variety in your photographs, from intimate close-ups to wider cinematic shots from afar. Adding drone photography creates another perspective of the lake.
  • Time your boat ride around golden hour. The best timing depends on which side of the lake you are staying on. Always plan this with both your photographer and boat driver for the perfect light.

If you are planning a Lake Como elopement and love a mix of film, digital, and Super 8 photography, get in touch to discuss your vision and availability.
